In anticipation of her likely participation in the Olympic Games, Venus Williams
has rescheduled her appearances with the Washington Kastles this season. The three-time gold medalist will now be representing the Kastles in DC on Monday, July 16th against the Boston Lobsters, and not on Tuesday, July 24th against the Philadelphia Freedoms as originally scheduled.
This change will allow Venus to travel to London and prepare accordingly for the Olympics if she is among the U.S. selections, to be revealed later this month. The 2012 Olympic Tennis Event will be held on the grass courts of Wimbledon beginning on Saturday, July 28th.
All fans who have already purchased individual match tickets through Ticketmaster for the Kastles' July 24 match will automatically have their tickets exchanged for the same seats, or comparable ones, for the July 16 match.
Those ticket-holders will also be contacted directly by Ticketmaster with instructions on how to receive a refund if they cannot attend the July 16 match. An option to maintain July 24 tickets at the new lower ticket price will also be detailed by Ticketmaster.
Tickets that have already been purchased for the Monday, July 16 Kastles' match against the Lobsters will be honored as they are, and these current ticket-holders will not be charged the new ticket prices for the Venus match.
Tickets to the July 16 and July 24 Kastles' matches are back on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster. The cost for July 16 tickets is now $45-$85, while tickets to the July 24 match cost $15-$30.
Venus will also lead the Kastles on the road against the New York Sportimes in Albany on Saturday, July 21st. That match has been rescheduled from its original date of Monday, July 23rd.
