2013 Washington Kastles Charity Classic Sneak Preview

Two teams composed of Senators, Congressmen, leaders from the Administration, Ambassadors, national media personalities and Washington Kastles players are coming together at Kastles Stadium for a memorable team tennis match, with 100% of the ticket proceeds going to charity.

The match will be comprised of seven doubles tiebreakers, with the team that wins the most cumulative points capturing the coveted Kastles trophy. This one-of-a-kind tennis event will take place on Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at Kastles Stadium at The Wharf.

The Washington Kastles have secured three WTT titles in four years, completed back-to-back undefeated seasons and won 32 consecutive matches -- the second-longest winning streak in major U.S. pro sports history. While success on the court has been gratifying, the franchise’s core mission has always been a commitment to giving back to our community. Since the Kastles' founding in 2008, the team worked with over 100 local charities and made contributions totaling more than $750,000 in the form of cash donations, match tickets and sports equipment.

The Washington Kastles Charity Classic is an extension of those efforts. Share Our Strength, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and the D.C. Public Education Fund shared all of the profits from the 2012 Charity Classic, and the Kastles will continue fully supporting its charitable partners through this year's event.

With giving comes receiving, and last year's participants walked away with unforgettable memories. In the battle between the Stars and Stripes teams, it was the Stars who emerged victorious 41-39, led by the President’s Director of the National Economic Council Gene Sperling and D.C. United coach Ben Olsen. With new Kastle and tennis superstar Martina Hingis headlining the 2013 Charity Classic, another memorable evening is on the horizon.

July 18 promises to be a night to remember. Stay tuned for a full 2013 roster and more news on the 2013 Charity Classic. In the meantime, click here for the official Washington Kastles Charity Classic Facebook page and click here for a full match review from last year's event.
