The Washington Kastles made more sports history on September 16th when they defeated the Sacramento Capitals 20-19 for their 32nd consecutive victory and third World TeamTennis championship. Their win over the Capitals inches the Kastles within one win of the longest winning streak of all time among major U.S. pro sports teams.

On July 24th, the Kastles beat the Philadelphia Freedoms 21-16 to take sole possesion of the second-longest major U.S. pro sports winning streak from the 1916 MLB New York Giants, who won 26 straight games.

Earlier this season, Washington surpassed the all-time record NFL winning streak of 21 games, set by the New England Patriots over the course of the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

With their win over Springfield on July 11th, the Kastles overtook the NHL's longest winning streak of 17 games, set by the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 1992-1993 season.

The Kastles have not lost a match since falling to the Boston Lobsters in overtime on July 22, 2010. Since then, the team has saved 10 match points, won four Supertiebreakers and clinched seven matches by just a single game.

Washington is 14-0 all-time at Kastles Stadium at The Wharf, where the streak began on July 5, 2011 with a 21-18 Kastles' victory over the Kansas City Explorers in overtime.

In capturing the 2011 World TeamTennis title with a 16-0 record, the Kastles became the first major U.S. pro sports team to have an undefeated season since the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Founded in 2008, the Kastles have won three WTT championships in their first five years as a franchise.

The only major U.S. pro sports winnning streak still in sight for Washington is the 33-game undefeated run of the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1971-72 NBA season. The Kastles could tie that mark with a win in the 2013 WTT season opener.
